This position seeks dynamic and energetic individuals with excellent
leadership skills and a passion for supporting young people to get
access to fun, interesting activities in the Ballinfoile area of the
city.

BACKGROUND

GALWAY CITY PARTNERSHIP is a local and community development company
working in Galway City. We have been in existence since **Apply on the

– and focus particularly on those who are long term unemployed.

Our role is the development of innovative, flexible programmes to meet
the needs of our specific groups and individuals. We work
strategically with local agencies and groups to ensure that
mainstreaming of successful projects becomes a reality while enabling
the lessons learned to positively influence policy at all levels.

GALWAY CITY PARTNERSHIP IS RECRUITING TWO PART-TIME COMMUNITY YOUTH
ACTIVITY WORKERS FOR THE BALLINFOILE COMMUNITY IN GALWAY CITY.

These people will work with young people aged **Apply on the
website**. The roles are to organise, facilitate and promote
activities for young people in the Ballinfoile area.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES.

Work closely with all members of the City North Family and Support
Network in particular the Foróige UBU GRETB project in Ballinfoile,
Galway City East School Completion Programme, the Home School Liaison
Coordinators from local schools, the Tusla Child and Family Support
Network Coordinator, TUSLA Family Services, Galway City Council,
GRETB, Ballinfoile Castlegar Neighbourhood Centre and Galway City
Partnership.

* Identify activity needs of young people in the Ballinfoile area and
organise and promote activities in response to these needs.
* Develop new and innovative programmes and activities to meet the
needs and interests of young people in Ballinfoile.
* Work in close partnership with key stakeholders.
* Identify funding opportunities to support youth access to sport,
physical activity, music and the arts in the community.
* Develop culturally appropriate activities in response to the needs
of the young people.
* Coordinate a timetable of activities and identify suitable coaches
and facilitators and venues.
* Recruit, train and develop adult volunteers to support the
development of Youth activities.
* Coordinate information of all Youth activities in the Ballinfoile
area.
* Encourage young people to actively participate in the design and
development of programmes and offer opportunities for them to feedback
on the programmes delivered.
* Adhere to Child Protection and Safeguarding Policies as well as
Health and Safety regulations.

PLANNING AND EVALUATION.

* Research and develop new ideas for activities and seek out funding
opportunities as needed.
* Keep good programme records and support in administration for
funding requirements.
* Plan within set budget and budget effectively.
* Regularly evaluate the impact of the youth activities and evidence
the improved outcomes for young people.
* Complete reports and other administrative tasks as required.
* Participate in the relevant service training as agreed with the
management.

DESIRABLE PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE.

* A relevant third-level qualification and/or at least two years’
experience in Youth Work, Community Development, Health Promotion,
Applied Social Sciences. Experience of working with young people in a
community setting.
* An understanding and knowledge of relevant issues affecting young
people.
* Ability to demonstrate cultural awareness, sensitivity,
flexibility, and a strong work ethic.
* A commitment to work from an anti-racist and equality perspective.
* Experience of working with vulnerable groups and disadvantaged
communities.
* An understanding of working through inter-agency partnerships and
an appreciation of same.
* Experience and knowledge of Youth Services and working with young
people, as well as a strong understanding of community development and
social inclusion.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES.

* Strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills.
* A proven ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
* Excellent planning, organisation, and communication skills.
* Experience of negotiation and budget planning skills.
* Strong written, digital, and oral communication skills
* Self-motivated and action oriented.

THIS ROLE IS OFFERED ON A FIXED TERM CONTRACT FOR **APPLY ON THE

* This position will require flexibility around working hours with
regards to evenings and weekends.
* Duration of Contract - The contract is a fixed term contract until
December *
* Expectations are that funding will be secured allowing for a
continuation of the contract until *.
* Working Hours – *.5 hours per week.
Please note that some evening/weekend work may be required outside of
these hours.
* The Company offers Time Off in Lieu (TOIL) for additional hours
worked outside normal working hours. Galway City Partnership has a
Flexible and hybrid working policy.
* Annual Leave - Annual leave will be *.5
days per annum pro rata.
* Travel & Subsistence - Travel and subsistence will be paid at
public sector rates.
* Location of the position - The role is based in Ballinfoile
Castlegar Neigbourhood Centre.

GARDA VETTING: Offer of employment will be subject to a Garda vetting
